Stuart G Major Director B.Ec CPA

Stuart is one of four working directors in the firm and has a particular interest in business succession, restructuring and an in-depth compliance knowledge. He manages a variety of corporate and business clients and takes an active ‘hands on’ approach to assisting clients in their development and growth. Stuart is also responsible for the efficient running of the practice and the day-to-day management issues.

Stuart has been employed by the firm for in excess of fifteen years. He completed a Bachelor of Economics in 1994 at Monash University majoring in Accounting, after successfully completing secondary education at Melbourne High School. He commenced his post graduate CPA studies in 1996 and was admitted as a full CPA member in February 1998. Later in 1998 he was issued a public practice certificate by the Australian Society of CPA’s and a tax agent license from the Australian Taxation Board. Stuart is now an active member of the CPA Victorian Public Practice Committee and CPA Victorian Public Accountants Convention Taskforce.

A regular on the basketball and squash courts, Stuart has a keen interest in all sports and is a faithful Richmond supporter.



Michael Lewis Director B.Bus. Acc CPA

Michael provides clients, both corporate and individual, with taxation and business advisory services focussing in areas of income tax, capital gains tax, cash flow management, business structuring and valuations. Michael is proactive in assisting clients achieve their financial goals and provides clients with a point of contact. He manages the Compliance Team at the firm and is a Certified Practising Accountant and holds a Public Practice Certificate. 

Michael is a degree qualified accountant (Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting) and joined Proctor Major in 2003. He spent 10 years in industry before entering public practice, during which time he gained invaluable experience in identifying the issues that drive small to medium size businesses.

With a young family Michael spends most of his spare time enjoying family activities and squeezing in the odd round of golf, football match or race day.



Amy Ho Client Manager B.Com CPA

In her role as Client Manager, Amy manages her own group of clients who require accounting, taxation and bookkeeping services, utilising her sound knowledge of the implementation and operation of various accounting software packages such as MYOB and QuickBooks.

Amy reviews and monitors client’s results, any tax planning and taxation issues that may arise, and ensures those clients’ financial decisions are compliant. Amy has a good knowledge of areas in superannuation, WorkCover, GST, BAS and IAS. Amy joined Proctor Major as a Graduate Accountant in 1996 after completing a Bachelor of Commerce at Monash University. She has since attained her Certified Practising Accountant’s (CPA) accreditation.

During her free time Amy enjoys shopping, hanging out with friends, surfing the net, reading and just relaxing.



Mark Brown Accountant B.Com CPA

Mark completed his Bachelor of Commerce from La Trobe University in 2005, and has a broad knowledge covering financial and management accounting, taxation and auditing. Mark is able to assist his clients’ with many of their needs, covering tax planning, taxation compliance, GST, PAYG, superannuation and payroll tax. Mark also has a strong knowledge of the Fringe Benefits Tax system.

Since starting with Proctor Major in 2005 Mark has attained his Certified Practising Accountant’s (CPA) accreditation.

Originally born and bred in the small country town of Nathalia (North of Shepparton), Mark made the move to Melbourne to study and is thoroughly enjoying city life, however still loves getting back to the country to see his family and pets. Mark enjoys going to the gym, spending time with friends and just generally relaxing and enjoying his free time.



Andrew Hurley Graduate Accountant B.Com ASA

Andrew provides a support role to the partners in the compliance field, and is always on hand to provide valuable research into taxation and reporting issues. His main interests are management and taxation accounting.

Andrew joined Proctor Major in July 2006 as an Undergraduate Accountant from La Trobe University. He has since completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Accounting and begun his Chartered Accounting studies.

Andrew enjoys playing Football in the winter and Cricket in the summer and when he can find the time, takes pleasure in skiing and a social game of golf.



Cheryl Draper Receptionist/Administration Assistant

Cheryl joined Proctor Major in February 2009 in the role of Receptionist/Administration Assistant that she job shares with Denise.

Coming from a background in customer service and administration, Cheryl understands the importance, as the first point of contact, of being professional yet approachable. She is always willing to help clients and staff with any queries or challenges presented.

Cheryl enjoys reading and going to the gym but her best form of relaxation is spending time with her husband and two beautiful children.




K Fred Proctor Director CPA FCA

Fred is a Chartered Accountant, a CPA and a Registered Company Auditor. Of recent years Fred’s main focus has been in the areas of business planning, consulting and valuations, superannuation (SMSF’s), and audits of various enterprises as well as still supporting his fellow Directors and team in the practice.

Fred has a wealth of business experience derived initially from the banking industry and commercial accounting, followed by 40 years in public accounting. It is due to his extensive work history that Fred was honoured with a Fellowship of the Chartered Accountants.

He loves being with all his family including the grandchildren, and really enjoys community welfare, walking, music, reading and gardening.



Brett Cox Director B.Bus G.Dip.HR

With a diverse background including accounting, superannuation, human resources and business consulting, Brett has a multifaceted role with the practise. He heads up the firm’s Superannuation and Human Resource consulting divisions and plays an active role in the Business Advisory area.

Brett’s qualifications includes a Bachelor of Business, CPA and Graduate Diploma in Human Resources and has extensive experience within a top tier accounting firm, large corporate, private companies and his own consulting practise. He is currently a member of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants at the Australian Human Resources Institute.

With two young daughters, his spare time is kept busy. He also coaches a basketball team and loves watching all types of sport, in particular the Hawks.



Cheryl Raines Office & IT Administrator

Cheryl is responsible for Proctor Major’s internal bookkeeping and accounting, business activity statements, accounts payable, payroll, IT system support and office administration. Cheryl also looks after our Audit Insurance program and the lodgement of all tax returns and activity statements for clients.

Cheryl has a good working knowledge of MYOB and offers client support on technical issues whether by phone or in person. She also ensures there is always a cake to celebrate staff birthdays! Cheryl first joined the team back in July 1991 when it was known as K F Proctor after returning to Victoria from sunny north Queensland where she was educated in the ‘workings’ of a tax agents / accountants office over a period of ten years.

Cheryl is a mum with three gorgeous children and enjoys drawing during her very limited spare time.



Danielle Taylor Personal Assistant

As personal assistant to the directors’, Danielle is responsible for assisting them in a variety of tasks in meeting their clients’ needs, as well as providing administrative support to the Compliance & Human Resources areas of the firm. This encompasses many areas including: tracking of our taxation compliance work to ensure ATO deadlines are met, assistance in recruitment and staff induction. Danielle also manages the ASIC corporate secretarial services for our clients.

Danielle joined Proctor Major in August 1998 when she returned to Melbourne after living in Queensland for several years. During her time in Queensland she completed Certificate 11 in Office Administration and has an extensive background in customer service.

In her spare time, Danielle enjoys shopping, gardening, beach walking and spending time with family and friends.



Denise Tikellis Receptionist/Administration Assistant

Denise joined the Proctor Major team in September 2007 in the position of Receptionist. As the first point of contact at Proctor Major, for visitors and answering telephone calls, Denise understands the importance of presenting a welcoming, professional reception. She is always more than happy to help with any queries you have, or direct you to the most helpful member of the Proctor Major team, and will always endeavour to maintain a high level of service.

Before joining Proctor Major, Denise worked for an accounting firm until leaving to spend some time as a full time mum with her two boys.

Denise enjoys caring for her children and husband, and holidaying when possible. She loves to have a good laugh, as well as entertaining and spending quality time with family and friends.



Shannyn Ashwood Graduate Accountant B.Bus.Com MProfAcc

Shannyn joined the Proctor Major team in July 2008, midway through completing her Masters in Professional Accounting with Monash University, and graduated in November 2008. Shannyn’s role as a graduate accountant includes providing taxation services for a number of clients and assisting the partners with compliance and reporting matters. She also plays a support role to Fred assisting him with various auditing responsibilities.

Shannyn grew up in the city of Bairnsdale in East Gippsland, before moving to Melbourne in 2003 to go to university. She completed a Bachelor of Business Commerce, majoring in Management at Monash University in 2006 before going on to complete her Masters in Accounting. Shannyn has recently commenced her CPA studies.

Shannyn enjoys living in Melbourne, and when she is not working, she loves singing, wakeboarding and spending time with family and friends.
